The IPM Involves Nine Key Components:

• Planning the IPM - To meet the need for a pest free environment is not enough. Preventing the health problems associated with vermin pest can be accomplished without polluting the environment.The goal of Professional Pest Managers (PPM) is to provide a quality living environment utilizing the methods that prevent human exposure to pesticides. These methods are entitles “IPM” - Integrated Pest Management.
   
• Client Coordinator - An Integrated Pest Management Program works around the clock to meet the client’s needs. The client designates a coordinator. The coordinator oversees the clients IPM goals and assists the PPM in meeting these needs. The coordinator controls the daily functions of the IPM Program.

• Support From the Top - The commitment to make an IPM Program successful must come from the top of the client’s organization. The chief officer or manager needs to fully support the goals of an IPM Program. This support, understanding and cooperation is necessary to meet the IPM Program goals.

Critical Components

A. Inspect: A thorough inspection is a must to begin a pest management program.
B. Detect: Deployment of sealed non-toxic containers containing traps with attractants.
C. Correct: Mechanically or structurally sealing out pest entry areas. Removal of food and water sources that rodent and insect pests need to survive. Vacuum and steam treatments/Manual removal with traps/Specialized non-toxic or low-toxicity chemicals in sealed containers or specialized non-odor formulations.

Documentation - Documentation provides communication data. Written reports provide clear details of any activities and the working results of the IPM Program. These documents are:
Written Observation Reports - Details activities every service provided.

Pest Sighting Log - Used by the coordinator to write reports of sighted pests.

Facility Locator Map - Shows where all traps and monitors are placed.

Pesticide Usage Log - Documents any materials applied on the premises.

Pest Activity Log - Denotes what stations or area incurred pest activity.

MSDS & Label Book - Provided to the coordinator for easy reference and regulatory compliance on any chemical compound that might be applied.

Communication - All reporting forms are submitted to the client coordinator. Upon submission, a plan for remedial work and deficiency corrections will be devised. The client coordinator should have the authority to act upon needed corrections and the PPM will schedule any extra services to resolve a pest occurrence.

Diagnostic Review - During every year, account audits will be performed by the PPM and the client coordinator. The audit’s purpose is to expose any program shortcomings that need to be changed. Every structure has unique characteristics. Every pest situation may require a unique solution. Diagnosing an account provides continued program enhancement.
